Gods and Monsters

Every year, freshmen at Cherry Hill West study the Greek gods and mythology.

Mr Dipatri, Freshman English teacher, says he enjoys teaching “Greek mythology because it is required to be taught and is referenced in lots of books and movies which is important for people to understand.”

Students read about the Greek gods that we are all familiar with like Zeus, Hades, and Poseidon. Students also studied lesser-known gods such as Artemis, Hephaestus, and Demeter. Students gather information through books and documentaries.

In order for the students to show what they learn they do a project where they research and present information about the Greek gods. Students got to pick which god they wanted to present and included information about the god they picked from researching things such as their Roman names, their story, and what they represent.

Connor Hawley, a freshman in Mr. Dipatri’s class, said: “It was interesting to learn about what people believed in ancient times.”
