Vice President Joe Biden won the presidential election on Saturday, November 7th, 2020, obtaining 306 electoral votes. Meanwhile, President Donald J. Trump has gained 232 electoral votes claiming the race to the White House isn’t over. Although President Trump didn’t win, he won over 74 million popular votes. Joe Biden reached over 81 million popular votes, breaking history for the most amount of popular votes given to one candidate.

During the first debate, President Trump interrupted Biden 159 times. Biden picked back up for the second debate, answering Trump by responding to unfinished situations at him that he didn’t speak about fixing or improving. After Election Day, Biden’s electoral vote amount took a high rise putting him in the lead. The president convinced a good majority of Americans to protest about making a stop to counting every single vote to prevent Biden from winning this year’s presidential election.

Trump stated three days before Biden was announced the next president,“We were getting ready to win this election. Frankly, we did win this election.” He was the only President in modern history to not congratulate the next president in winning the election. Democrats and Senators have been congratulating Biden on his big win. This was the third time he ran for president, but this time, he nailed the competition more than ever.

It has been a long road for Biden. He ran for president in 1988, 2008 and 2020. After he ran for President in 2008, he became President Obama’s Vice President. He wasn’t planning on running for this year’s election until the Coronavirus hit and decided to help out America to prevent more lives being lost. He was going to run for President in 2016 until the deadly car crash his wife and daughter were in and the loss of one of his sons from Brain Cancer. Trump kept bringing up Biden’s son during both debates finding ways to attack him in his personal life. Despite these challenges, Biden has achieved his longtime goal.
