The Little League Hall of Excellence is located in the Peter J. McGovern Little League Museum in South Williamsport, Pennsylvania. Getting inducted into the Little League Hall of Excellence is the highest honor that can be given by the Little League. New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, who had played Little League baseball as a child, was to be inducted along with Harlan Coben, a bestselling author. The two played on the same team as children.
As children, Chris Christie and Harlan Coben had been close to reaching the Little League World Series. Their team was one game away from reaching the regional finals in Williamsport. Their team was coached by Bill Christie, Chris Christie’s father.
Chris Christie and Harlan Coben were inducted into the Little League Hall of Excellence right before the beginning of the Little League Baseball World Series Championship which took place in South Williamsport, Pennsylvania. The championship game took place on August 25th. The two threw the opening pitches of the game after both giving speeches. Chris Christie and Harlan Coben were the forty-sixth and forty-seventh inductees into the Hall of Excellence.
Other politicians that have been inducted into the Hall of Excellence include Vice President Joe Biden and former President George W. Bush. Harlan Coben was also the first novelist that had been had been accepted into the Little League Hall of Excellence.
