By: Josee Matella ’16 Reviews Editor The holiday season has become appropriately known as “Chamber Season” for the Chamber Singers. While the extracurricular choir is lively and active all-year round, the holidays give Chamber the opportunity to complete a main objective: to spread holiday cheer around the area. This choir of twenty two, eleven men and eleven women, recently spent a day out on December 6th visiting various nursing homes and performing carols for the residents. The day out consisted of traveling from each nursing home to another with a stop at the Cherry Hill Mall for lunch. The locations included Collingswood Manor, The Dubin House, Medford Leas, and Cherry Hill Senior Living. The group was warmly welcomed at each stop by the wonderful staff and residents. Selections performed ranged from traditional Christmas carols such as “Angels We Have Heard on High” to jazzy renditions of “Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer”to a high energy selection of “I Have a Little Dreydel” complete with spinning members. Most members found one of the best parts of the trips to be the residents’ reactions and being able to perform with each other. While performing, many sang along to the choir and swayed to the music. Senior member, Ryan Sagedy ‘14, recalls how, “It is always rewarding to spread some smiles and holiday cheer while singing with your family.” Mackenzie Cornaglia ‘15 repeats the family bond the choir has formed with, “Chamber Singers isn’t just a choir. It’s a family!” The family feel is very apparent when the choir not only performs but rehearses. The student directors, Brian Cieslewicz, Valerie Wilson, and Jack Meidel lead the students to accomplish great things like Chamber Day Out. Brian ‘14 summed up the whole experience in a few lines: “It’s what Chamber is all about, it’s so fun and it’s so rewarding to bring a smile to their faces. I’m really going to miss it next year.”
