COVID- 19:

Governor Murphy announced that the mask mandate for schools will be lifted the first week of March, according to The New York Times. It has been 2 years since the pandemic struck New Jersey hard. Murphy believes this will be the next step in returning to normalcy as the number of cases continues to decline in the state. 

 

Sports: 

Considered to be the greatest quarterback in NFL history, Tom Brady announced on Instagram early last week that he is officially retiring from the NFL. At 44 years old and after 22 years in the league he has decided to hang up his helmet. Brady is the most decorated player, having won 7 Super Bowl Championships, and has been named MVP for 5 of those victories. Brady’s legacy to the football world will surely be remembered as one of the greatest of all time. 

 

Ben Simmons has been on the outs with the 76ers for some time now. Recent speculation has occurred claiming that there is potential for a trade between the Sixers and the Nets- James Harden for Ben Simmons, and possibly Seth Curry.  It has now been officially confirmed by ESPN  and The Washington Post on Thursday in a blockbuster deal, that James Harden will be coming to Philadelphia in exchange for two first round draft picks, Ben Simmons, Seth Curry, and Andre Drummond who will be sent to play for the Brooklyn Nets. 

 

Celebrities/ Entertainment:

Kylie Jenner announced on her Instagram Sunday evening that she had given birth to her second child. Her daughter Stormi now has a baby brother, but the name is still unknown. Kylie yet again broke the internet with the news. Her post announcing her son’s arrival received a whopping 20 million likes.
