Who Is Gypsy Rose Blanchard?
Gypsy Rose Blanchard was born on July 27, 1991, in Golden Meadow, LA. Gypsy had a terrible childhood and endured a lot. In December of 2023, she was released after serving eight out of the ten sentenced years in prison for second-degree murder due to her role in her abusive mother’s murder. Gypsy has grown international fame on the internet recently for speaking out about her story.
Gypsy’s Story
Growing up, Gypsy had a chaotic and traumatic childhood, between being forced to pretend to be tragically ill, and undergoing countless medical procedures that were not needed. Throughout her childhood, she had to use a feeding tube and wheelchair, even though she didn’t need them. There were also multiple times when Gypsy’s mom was abusive to her physically. Gypsy’s mom also proceeded to tell people that her daughter had muscular dystrophy and lied about Gypsy’s age and medical conditions. Why would a mother do all of this to their own child? Well, Gypsy’s mom had Munchausen syndrome by proxy, which MedLine Plus states is “a mental illness and a form of child abuse. The caretaker of a child, most often a mother, either makes up fake symptoms or causes real symptoms to make it look like the child is sick.” After years and years of her mother’s actions, Gypsy grew tired and did not want to deal with her mother anymore. Her mother, Dee Dee Blanchard in June of 2015 was found dead in her home in Springfield, Missouri. According to The Guardian, “Gypsy Rose Blanchard supplied her then-boyfriend, Nicholas Godejohn, with a knife and hid in a bathroom while he killed her mother.” Although Godejohn, her ex-boyfriend is serving a life sentence, Gypsy was recently released and is doing better than ever.
Gypsy’s Current Life
As Gypsy has been released from prison for a while now, her life is becoming what seems to be normal, as she has a new husband named Ryan Scott Anderson. She has also been out shopping and getting her nails done and hanging out with friends and family. Gypsy’s current husband, Ryan, and she are happily in love and got married to each other in 2022 while Gypsy was still in prison. He had sent her a letter, and Gypsy’s interest was piqued seeing as she was from the same state as him. The rest is history. Online, Gypsy has started posting on various social media platforms such as Tiktok, Snapchat, Instagram, etc, gaining her lots of followers and views.
Even when in prison Gypsy had participated in interviews, and now has written a book about her experience, and even has her very own documentary called “The Prison Confessions of Gypsy Rose Blanchard,” coming out this January according to People.com. Gypsy ever since being online and released, talks about how she is a changed woman, has grown from her actions and knows that what she was a part of was wrong. But her true goal is to speak out and share her story for others to hear and spread awareness. Thousands of people have been inspired by Gypsy’s positive attitude and have been moved after hearing all that she has gone through. Today, Gypsy is 32, living in Lake Charles, Louisiana, and is perfectly healthy.
