It has been five slow and silent years, and the disappearance of Dulce Maria Alavez remains unsolved. On September 16th, 2019, at around 4 to 5 PM EST, Dulce’s little brother, crying on the swings of their local park in Cumberland County, New Jersey, was noticed by his mother, who was scratching off lottery tickets and helping Dulce’s sister with homework. The five-year-old girl playing with her little brother had just been kidnapped.
The picture above is a sketch made by authorities of someone who may be involved in the case of Dulce Maria Alavez’s kidnapping that was released almost a month later after her disappearance: a five-foot-eight Hispanic male who drove a red van. There has been no other evidence explaining why she was kidnapped, though many speculate that it could be simply because the opportunity presented itself.
Time Magazine states in an article regarding the disappearance of the child, “On Oct. 4 [of 2019], Bridgeton Police Chief Michael Gaimari Sr. provided an update on the investigation. Gaimari Sr. said more than 300 law enforcement officers from multiple agencies have contributed to the investigation.”
The last recording and images of Dulce Maria Alavez were in a convenience store. She went with her family to grab ice cream before going to the park. According to the FBI, Dulce wore a yellow shirt with a koala on the front, black and white pants with butterflies and flowers on the back, and white dress sandals.
A Hispanic male is an alleged suspect, with little to no further evidence, and a family is still looking for their daughter. It could be a long time until we receive more information regarding Dulce’s disappearance. However, Dulce will remain on the FBI’s Most Wanted list for Kidnappings/Missing Persons.
To submit any information entailing evidence of the kidnapping, contact your local FBI office or the Bridgeton Police Department at 856-451-0033. There is currently $75,000 for anyone who has evidence of the abduction.
