A Heartfelt Thank You…
September 27, 2015
When making my schedule in 8th grade, there were three spots for alternative electives. I put Journalism in the 3rd spot because it sounded kind of interesting, but I didn’t think I’d actually get it. When my schedule came in August, I saw the word “Journalism” mocking me on the page. I tried to switch the course, but in the end I was forced to walk into F33 on the first day of school. My indifference toward Journalism quickly turned into a passion through Mrs. Esposito’s teaching. From cookie day to journalism movies, Mrs. Esposito always kept the class interesting. My articles matured from one sided viewpoints to complex and sophisticated commentaries. I owe this to Mrs. Esposito. Always willing to help and constantly showing interest in what I had to say, Mrs. Esposito taught me how to be a successful journalist. Now, three years later, I stand as Editor-in-Chief of the paper, and laugh at how I once wanted to take anything but Journalism. I’ll miss Mrs. Esposito at newspaper and in class, but I know she will make an excellent mother. Best of luck as you start a new chapter in your life!

When I first came to West, I was very nervous about getting involved with the newspaper. I was almost not going to do it until I walked into F33 for the first official meeting. Mrs. Esposito greeted me with a wonderful smile and made me feel right at home. She encouraged me to have my own column for the paper and to keep it up in the years to come. If I had a question or concern, Mrs. Esposito would always answer and guide me to the right direction. As I reflect over these past four years, I never would have imagined that I would be Editor-in-Chief of The Lion’s Roar. Mrs. Esposito, you are an awesome mentor and teacher, you are a big part of why I want to pursue a career in Broadcast Journalism. Thank you so much for all of your time and help with the paper over the years and seeing the potential in me. Congratulations on your new baby girl! I know you will be a wonderful mother. I hope you will come back and visit before graduation.
