Late at night on November 22nd, a gunman released fire in the breakroom of a Walmart in Chesapeake, Virginia. The gunman, Andre Bing, 31, was armed with a handgun, killing six and sending four others to a hospital. One of the victims was just sixteen. It is unclear whether the victims were employees or shoppers. According to NPR, “Three of the deceased were found in the store’s break room. Bing was found at the scene dead from what is believed to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to police, the city added.”

Local police are still investigating to learn more about the gunman’s motive. However, an employee who worked aside Bing believed he had a ‘personal vendetta’ against fellow coworkers. The same coworker is suing the company for $50 million for proceeding to employ Bing even after she had reported him for inappropriate comments about her “lady clock” (referring to how she had not had children), her age, her financial situation, and even calling her an extremely inappropriate name. “‘Despite Mr. Bing’s long-standing pattern of disturbing and threatening behavior, Walmart knew or should have known about Mr. Bing’s disturbing and threatening behavior, but failed to terminate Mr. Bing, restrict his access to common areas, conduct a thorough background investigation, or subject him to a mental health examination,’ the lawsuit states.” according to NPR.

The shooting was just three days after the Club Q shooting, which was a shooting motivated by hate crime, and just in May, there was a supermarket shooting in Buffalo, which is believed to be motivated by a racial hate crime.

Six-hundred and eleven. Six-hundred and eleven mass shootings have been reported just this year, according to Forbes. This is disgusting. When will America learn? When will America adjust its gun laws, to make it safer? Is six-hundred-eleven mass shootings not enough?
