Both West Girls and Boys soccer have become dominating programs throughout South Jersey. Both teams had stellar performances last year, winning the South Jersey Group 3 Sectional title. The boys’ and girls’ soccer teams continued to excel this past season.
The West Girls Soccer team had an exciting season with impressive milestones and accolades. The girls ended their season 12-7-2 with prominent wins against Cherokee (2-0), Cherry Hill East (4-1), and Paul VI (1-0). However, their season ended on October 30th with a tough 1-0 loss against Moorestown in the second round of playoffs. Despite the tough ending, there was much to celebrate. The team was led by Senior Captains, Kennedy Erdman, Morgan Bauerle, Maddie Bauerle, and Abby Leporati. Senior Monmouth commit Kennedy Erdman was a dominating force all season with 19 goals and 51 career goals. Freshman Veronika Jablonski also added an impressive 9 goals and 7 assists. The team had 7 Olympic Conference National Division All-Stars. Kennedy Erdman, Julie Short, Danielle Short, and Abby Leporati were named to the 1st Team. Veronika Jablonski, Morgan Bauerle, and Julia Lewis were named to the 2nd team. Kennedy Erdman, Julie Short, and Danielle Short were named to the SJSCA All-South Jersey Team. Erdman was also named a High School All-American.
The boys soccer team also had a thrilling season with impressive wins and milestones. The boys ended their season 11-6-3
with prominent wins against Shawnee (3-2), Eastern (2-0), and Delsea (1-0). The team was led by Senior captains, Gavin Murray, Leo Orefice, and junior Justin Smith. Senior Gavin Murray led the team with 8 goals and 8 assists. Senior Leo Orefice was stellar all season in the net with 74 saves. The team had 6 Olympic Conference National Division All-Stars. Gavin Murray, Justin Smith, Nate Johnson, Leo Orefice, and Christian Pacella were named to the 1st Team. Aiden Ryder was named to the 2nd team.
